terraced house transformed
This townhouse required internal refurbishment, to bring it into the 21st century whilst still respecting the original Victorian fabric. A cohesive design has been created, successfully making the spaces flow together and opening up views. Although the two reception rooms had already been knocked into one, they still felt like two separate spaces.
The solution was to block up one of the doors to create a cosy annex to the main room rather than a corridor, and then to unite the two spaces with a six metre long walnut joinery unit. This houses the client’s entertainment systems, hidden behind a large sleek sliding door, and a new recessed slot fire. Upstairs, re-planning allowed the creation of a dressing room off the master bedroom, together with a smart contemporary bathroom.
The rough edges of the exiting house have been smoothed out to give a cool and contemporary feel, without destroying the house’s character.
